Tucker

This a an abstract series of sketches of my cousin, Tucker. I like that you can tell what it is but it still has an abstract quality about it. (8x12)

Butterfly

This is the first independent piece I did. It was super similar to the last incaustic piece and I consider it more of a continuation of the last thing I did (the tryptic).

A Separate Peace

This is by far my favorite project yet. I really like how it turned out. This was a Jasper Johns-inspired wax encaustic triptych. I used real pieces of nature.

Feathers

This was an impasto painting. I liked this project because the impasto gel was fun to experiment with. I wish that my composition had been a bit different but I like the colors and patterns I selected.

The Light

I had major problems with this project including the fact that it got broken and I had to re-do it. I like the implied texture in the rocks and in the sky but I didn't like how the final project turned out. Something about it looked too simple but only in certain parts--I felt like it was unbalanced.

Remember

This is an assemblage inspired by Robert Rauschenberg. I really loved this project and I was really willing to work hard on it to make it look as good as possible. I liked the vintage feel to this piece and hope to do something like this again soon.

Wind

This is an erasure drawing inspired by William Kentridge. I like the peaceful mood created by the flowers blowing in the wind. I also like the subtle color and how it does not distract from the main objects. I wish I had made the handle different and thicker so that it wouldn't stand out so much. And the table is a tad distracting from the main objects.
